Poll: Voters Respect Americans Standing Strong for Their Beliefs, Strongly Reject Cancel Culture
66% of American Voters Say They Respect Person Who Maintains Their Religious Convictions Despite Cultural Pressure
(Manitou Springs, CO—February 13, 2023) Summit.org, in partnership with McLaughlin and Associates—one of America’s most respected polling survey firms—is releasing the results of a recent national survey. Results were from a survey of 1,000 likely general election voters nationwide and were conducted from January 19th through January 23rd.
“The cancel culture tells us we must give up our religious beliefs to fit in. But that’s not how most Americans see it. Two-thirds of respondents in this new poll said they respect people more when they maintain their convictions rather than give them up to fit in with cultural trends,” said Dr. Jeff Myers, President of Summit.org and the author of the new book Truth Changes Everything: How People of Faith Can Transform the World in Times of Crisis. “We see a consistent trend in the data showing that in spite of a few nasty people who want to shame others into compromising their convictions, most Americans respect and appreciate the free exchange of ideas and opinions.”
All interviews were conducted online; survey invitations were distributed randomly within predetermined geographic units. These units were structured to correlate with actual voter turnout in the general election. This poll of 1,000 general election voters has an accuracy of +/- 3.1% at a 95% confidence interval.
