This Privacy Notice does not apply to websites, applications, or services that do not display or link to this webpage, are not operated by us, or that display or link to different privacy statements.
For purposes of this Privacy Notice, personal information means information relating directly or indirectly to an identifiable individual, except as may be set forth in applicable law.

1. Personal Information Collected and Source of Information
Categories of Personal Information
We collect information about you as set forth below and through the means discussed below. Please note that we need certain types of information so that you can access our Services, or we can provide the Services you request. If you do not provide us with the required information, or ask us to delete it, you may no longer be able to access or use our Services.
While parts of the Services may not require you to provide any information that can directly identify you by name (such as simply browsing our websites), the specific types of information we collect will depend upon the Services you request or otherwise use and the information you choose to provide. The types of data we may collect include:
- Contact information such as first and last name, email address, work address, and work phone number.
- Registration and Transaction information such as information about purchases or other transactions with us and information about your customer service interactions with us.
- Work-related information such as employer and job title, if you are an applicant for a job with us.
- Location information such as country and/or state, and sometimes IP address.
- Feedback or correspondence, such as information you provide when you contact us with questions, feedback, or otherwise correspond with us online, including chat transcripts, and contents of emails you send.
- Marketing information, such as your preferences for receiving communications about our activities, events, and publications, and details about how you engage with our communications, as well as content preferences based on how you use and engage with our services.
- Audio information such as phone call recordings and chat interactions, when you interact with our offices via phone/chat.
- Special Categories of Personal Information such as information relating to religious beliefs in limited circumstances, may be integral to some of the services we provide. We recognize that certain jurisdictions, including the European Union and some U.S. states, have enacted laws regarding the processing of certain sensitive personal information. We do not at this time consider our activities to be regulated by these laws.
We collect information in a few ways.
You Provide to Us
First, we gather information that you provide directly to us. For example, we collect information from you through your submissions of information to us, including via contact forms and surveys, emails, and other requests for information or customer support, from your attendance at live webinars, conferences, and other online and offline events,
Information We Obtain From Automated Means
When you use the Services, we also obtain information through automated means. We use a variety of technologies that automatically or passively collect information about the Services, such as internet protocol (“IP”) address, browser type(s), location (including IP address and latitude and longitude), browser language, operating system, referring and exit pages and URLs, error log data, and other similar information.
We and our service providers may use internet server logs, cookies, and similar technologies, including identifiers for mobile devices (e.g., Android Advertising Identifier or Advertising Identifier for iOS) or similar technology used to collect data. Most Internet browsers are automatically set up to accept cookies. However, if you want to refuse or delete any cookies (or similar technologies), please refer to the help and support area on your Internet browser for instructions on how to block or delete cookies. Please note you may not be able to take advantage of all the features of our Services, including certain personalized features, if you delete or disable cookies.
Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports Web traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

Information We Obtain From Third Parties
We may receive personal information about you from third-party sources such as social media and other mission-aligned organizations, identity providers, publicly available sources, organizational partners, data providers, or third-party staffing or personnel service providers.
Legal Basis for Processing Information
Where Summit is required to disclose its legal basis for processing, Summit relies on our contract with you and processes data necessary for the performance of that contract (for example, to provide you with the services you request and to identify and authenticate you so you may use the Service); necessary to comply with legal requirements (for example, to comply with applicable accounting rules and to make mandatory disclosures to law enforcement); necessary for our legitimate interests (for example, to manage our relationship with you and to improve the Service); and based on consent (for example, to communicate with you about our products and services and provide you with marketing information). If you have previously provided us with your consent, you may withdraw consent as discussed in the “Your Rights” section, below.
2. How We Use Your Personal Information
We, or our service providers working on our behalf, may use your personal information for various purposes depending on the types of information we have collected from you in order to:
- Develop, provide, deliver, and improve the Services. For example, your information is hosted and processed by our Services to create an account for you and to provide wireless connectivity for your network and devices. We may use such information you provide in identified, as well as in aggregated or deidentified, form, to refine and improve the Services such as to add new features and improve the user experience.
- Respond to your requests for information and provide you with more effective and efficient customer service and technical support. For example, we use your information to respond to your requests for information about our Services and, if you are a current customer and submit a request for technical support, to identify you as associated with a current customer, provide more accurate and personalized technical support, and to better understand your use of our Services and evaluate any support requests.
- Advertise and promote our organization and the Services. For example, we use your information to send you marketing communications via email or other contact methods where permitted by applicable law.
- Secure and improve our current and future Services. For example, our Services may collect your information through forms that you submit and may collect information automatically about your use of the Services to inform us about Services performance, areas of improvement, and Services updates and changes we may decide to evaluate.
- Comply with any procedures, laws, and regulations which apply to us. For example, we comply with subpoenas and other court orders to process data where we have determined there is a legal requirement for us to do so.
- Evaluate your eligibility to attend an event or conference. For example, certain information we learn may render you ineligible for the events we host for reasons that are within our discretion to make as the host of those conferences or events.
- Exercise or defend our legal rights. We may process your personal information in connection with exercising or defending our legal rights where it is necessary for our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of others or for fraud prevention. For example, we may process information you provide to identify any fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical, or illegal activity such as use of another individual’s identity and we may use your information as necessary to defend ourselves in litigation or enforce our rights or agreements with others.
- Conduct recruiting and hiring activities. If you apply to work with or for us, we will review the information you submit to determine if your qualifications and experience match any available opportunities, to verify the information you provide, communicate with you regarding any opportunities, improve our recruiting processes, process your onboarding if hired, and comply with applicable labor and employment laws.
- Other legitimate purposes as required or permitted by applicable law. We may process your information for other purposes consistent with those in this Privacy Notice and as may be permitted or required by applicable law.
We may aggregate and/or deidentify any information collected through the Services so that the information can no longer reasonably be used to infer information about, or otherwise be linked to you or your device. We may use the aggregated and/or deidentified information for any purpose, including without limitation for research purposes and to promote our products and Services, and may also share such data with any third parties, including advertisers, mission-aligned organizations, donors, and other supporters.
3. How We Share and Disclose Your Personal Information
We may share your personal information in the following ways:
- Service Providers: We provide access to or share your information with select third parties who perform services on our behalf. They have access to your information to perform these services but are prohibited from using your information for other purposes. They provide a variety of services to us, including marketing and advertising, donation processing and other payments, sales, producing content, managing our Services, research, customer service, security, fraud prevention, and legal services.
- Protection of our Organization and Others: We may disclose the information we collect and maintain about you if required to do so by law or in a good faith belief that such access, retention or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process (e.g., a subpoena or court order); (b) enforce this Privacy Notice or other contracts with you, including investigation of potential violations thereof; (c) respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third parties such as rights of privacy or intellectual property; (d) respond to your requests for customer service; and/or (e) protect our rights, property or personal safety or that of our agents, affiliates, users and/or the public. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection, spam/malware prevention, and similar purposes.
- Partners: We may share your information with partners, such as mission-aligned organizations and other partners. For example, if we engage with another organization to jointly offer a service, we may share your information with such parties so they may contact you directly. Or, if you participate in a webinar or review content featuring, including, or related to Summit and our Partners, we may share your information in connection with those events such as other with organizations or companies featured in a webinar or sponsors.
- Consent: We may share your information when we have your consent or instructions to do so. For example, by using our Services you automatically consent to the use of your information for marketing purposes, and also to the information being transferred to our systems and facilities even if those facilities are outside the United States.
- Corporate/Organizational Transfers: As we continue to grow, we may buy, merge, or partner with other organizations. In such transactions (including in contemplation of such transactions), user information may be among the transferred assets. If a portion or all of our assets are sold or transferred to a third-party, personal information (including information processed in accordance with this Privacy Notice) may be one of the transferred assets. If such transfer is subject to additional mandatory restrictions under applicable laws, we will comply with such restrictions.
- Aggregate/Deidentified Information: From time to time, we may share aggregated and/or deidentified information about use of the Services, such as by publishing a report on usage trends. The sharing of such data is unrestricted.
- Intraorganizational: We may share your information with our affiliates and subsidiaries to operate, for example, if we establish a presence in a country outside of the USA, we may share your information with our subsidiaries and affiliates in such other countries.
Our Services may provide links to or make available integrations with third-party websites or applications (“Third-Party Sites”). Such Third-Party Sites are outside our control and not covered by this Privacy Notice. Summit is not liable for any information, content, products, services, software, or other materials available on or through Third-Party Sites. The use of a Third-Party Site or any information or other content found on Third-Party Sites is subject to and governed by the terms and conditions of such Third-Party Sites. We encourage you to review the privacy notices posted on such Third-Party Sites.
4. Retention of Your Personal Information
We may retain your personal information both during and after the time you have a relationship with our organization. For example, we may retain contact information to maintain our internal financial or transactional records, to communicate with you about our relationship, or in cooperation with law enforcement agency requests. We may retain information collected automatically beyond the period in which the account is active.
The length of time for which we retain information depends on the purposes for which we collected it and how we use it, requirements of applicable laws, the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of the information, the resolution of any pending or threatened disputes, and enforcement of our agreements.
5. How We Protect your Personal Information
Summit takes technical and organizational security measures to protect the information provided via the Services from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our Services, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. Do not share your password with anyone.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we use measures to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Services. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures.
6. Children’s Privacy
Our Services are intended for general audiences and not for children under the age of 13 without the express consent of a parent or guardian. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected or received personal information from children under the age of 13 without valid parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it as soon as possible. We do not knowingly process data of children under the age of 13 without parental consent.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Choosing Not to Share Your Personal Information
You may choose not to provide personal information that we collect directly from you. If you choose not to provide personal information (or ask us to delete it), we may not be able to provide you with our Services or certain functionality of the Services. If you wish not to provide any personal information collected via automatic means, do not use any of our Services.
Other Rights You May Exercise
Additionally, residents of certain states and countries, including those in the European Union, may have rights with respect to the personal information we collect. You may be able exercise the following rights regarding personal data, subject to certain exceptions and limitations:
The right to confirm whether we are processing personal data about you.

The right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal data we collect, use, disclose, and “sell” about you; the categories of sources from which we collected personal data about you; our purposes for collecting or “selling” personal data about you; the categories of personal data about you that we have “sold” or disclosed for a business purpose; and the categories of third parties with which we have shared personal data.
The right to request that we delete the personal data we have collected about you.
The right to opt out of “selling” and sharing of personal data for targeted (also called “cross-context behavioral advertising”). Please note that if you opt out of certain practices, we may be unable to provide you with some services.
The right to opt in to processing of certain personal data. Please note that if you request we provide certain services which require the collection of sensitive data to provide those services, your initial request permits us to process the data for the purpose requested.
The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for the exercise of the above privacy rights.

We reserve the right to amend this Privacy Notice at any time to reflect changes in the law, our data collection and use practices, our Services, advances in technology, and for other purposes. The “Last Updated” date included at the end of this Privacy Notice will indicate when it was last updated. If we make a material change to the Notice, you will be provided with appropriate notice in accordance with legal requirements.
